So You Want A Website? Here is How to Make It

Hello, everyone! I get a lot of questions about how I started my site and all about the hosting, design, and how I knew what I was going to write about when I did start. I have always wanted to write so I knew that I would write a blog. My site was always meant to be a hobby and side hustle for me so the fact that people actually read my posts is shocking to me. This will be a step-by-step guide to how to start your own website if you are looking to do just that.

For the future, I will be doing a post on how to make money from your sites. I just want to say that I did not start this site to make a profit. I write because I love to write. Money is not a priority for me when it comes to my writing and this site. I am doing this because I love it and that is the sole reason. It would be nice to be able to make a living off of this, but I am not at that point yet.

8 Simple Steps to Start a Website

  1. Get an idea of what you want to do with your site
  2. Find a hosting service. I use SiteGround, and I bought the middle range plan. I recommend them to everyone.
  3. Decide if you will build it all on your own or use WordPress. My site is a combination of both.
  4. Spend as much time as you like thinking of a name and a design for the site of your dreams.
  5. Make your first post!
  6. Market your site. Tell your friends and family.
  7. Share your post on all your social platforms to get views!
  8. Repeat 5-7 per post.

That is all it takes to start a website of your own on your own.

To elaborate on the steps, I will go more in depth here so you can really see what I mean. Step One is important because so many people start a site without having an image of what they want. Number Two is important because if you get the wrong hosting site, it can and will end badly for you. Step Three is generally up to the owner of the site. Number Four is important because no one will spend any time on a website that looks bad. Step Five can take as long as you want it to. Number Six is important because it gets your website out there for people to see. Step Seven is an important continuation of number six. Number Eight is optional, but encouraged, to increase your views and statistics.

I have personally used all of these steps on my site, and I can confidently say that they work very well. Some people may pay for marketing and advertising, but I am not one of those people. Every view my site gets is because I have followed all the steps above.

Now you know how I started my website and my promotion plans.
